Advance Fee Fraud – The 419 Scam

The "Nigeria Connection" refers to one of the oldest and most widespread Internet fraud schemes: Advance Fee Fraud, also known as the 419 scam after the relevant section of the Nigerian Criminal Code.

The goal is always the same: the victim is asked to pay an upfront "fee" to receive a supposedly much larger sum of money – which, of course, never materialises.
